Non Toxic Hair Products You Need

This is my go-to non toxic dry shampoo. It is from one of my favorite clean beauty brands - Primally Pure. You will also LOVE their non toxic deodorant. It is truly the best on the market. 

For non toxic hair styling products, I would say this is the one I use the most considering I try to only wash my hair 1-2 a week so I use it weekly. Here is the link to their non toxic dry shampoo for light hair (this one doesn’t have coco powder in it). It is a great product that has several hair health benefits including organic essential oils - grapefruit (has natural cleansing properties), lavender (soothes the scalp) and peppermint (stimulates hair growth).  

Note: If you are using the non toxic dry shampoo for dark hair your hair WILL faintly smell like chocolate, which is a plus for most people. 

Also - if you take this on a plane (or to the mountains) make sure that it is wrapped super well in plastic bags because the pressure will cause some of the power to come out. 

Here is a really easy DIY dry shampoo:

• Old salt or spice shaker

• Arrowroot Powder or Tapioca Powder (absorb moisture while adding texture and volume)

• Cacao Powder (customize your dry shampoo to your hair color, naturally!)

• Baking Soda (neutralize any odors and keep hair feeling fresh)

DARK LOCKS

Step 1: Fill an old salt/spice shaker 1/2 way with arrowroot or tapioca powder

Step 2: Fill the other 1/2 with cacao powder

Step 3: Add 1/2 tsp baking soda

Step 4: Shake to mix together!

LIGHT LOCKS

Step 1: Fill an old salt/spice shaker 80% of the way with arrowroot or tapioca powder

Step 2: Fill the remaining 20% with cacao powder

Step 3: Add 1/2 tsp baking soda

Step 4: Shake to mix together!

Truly, clean hair products can be hard to come by. A lot of trendy ‘clean beauty brands’ still contain EDC and other irritants but I have come to love a lot of Carina Organic's hair products. This non toxic leave-in conditioner. I also use their non toxic shampoo & bodywash for my daily bodywash, as well as for a part of my shampoo rotation. (I like to rotate my shampoo.) 

The best hair growth products all focus on a healthy scalp. This non toxic scalp scrub is SO luxurious. It has the most refreshing rosemary scent and leaves the most wonderful cool sensation on your scalp. I look forward to this.  Really take your time massaging the salt into your scalp to improve scalp circulation, which helps to support hair growth (and alleviate hair loss!!)

You should use a scalp scrub bi-weekly or monthly, depending on how often you wash your hair and how much product you use. I use it monthly. 

Hair oil….. Who doesn’t love a hair oil?

This non toxic hair oil (here) leaves your hair feeling silky smooth and shining so beautifully. It is the perfect non toxic hair product for frizzy hair. 

Scalp health. Scalp health. Scalp health. I can say it enough. If you have or are struggling with hair loss issues, be very intentional with your scalp health. Shower filters are KEY. This shower filter has helped my scalp and hair loss improve SO MUCH. The water that comes from our tap is often filled with endocrine disrupting chemicals (including pesticides).

If you don't already have a water filter in your kitchen, it is well worth the investment. Here is an easy portable water filter if you are living in a rental or looking for a more affordable option. Also - glass bottled water always. A lot of plastic bottled water is actually just as bad if not worse than tap water. Go check your drinking water using the EWG’s Tap Water Database.

Don’t we all love a little beach wave when on vacation or in the summer? Finding non toxic hair products for wavy hair is the best attempt at trying to embrace the humidity when it is hard to control your hair. This non toxic sea mist is a part of your vacation/summer natural hair regimen. If you have curly hair, it is also a great non toxic hair product for curly hair. 

This non toxic shampoo and conditioner will be your new go-to . It will leave your hair so silky smooth and soft. No leave-in conditioner necessary; it’s that good. It is very affordable and the containers are huge.

This non toxic hair spray is an extremely gentle and soft hair spray but it is one the best organic hair styling products. It is hard to find a strong holding hair spray that is from a clean beauty brand and actually clean. It won’t leave your hair crunchy, which is my preference actually. 

If you are a parent or soon to be parent, these are VERY CLEAN non toxic hair products for kids. I especially love the detangler spray since children generally don’t have a lot of patients for you brushing their hair and you both want it to be as smooth/easy as possible!!
